IN DEPTH: “Hour” The term “hour” (ὥρα) in John is a technical term that is generally assumed to refer to the death of Jesus on the cross (4:21, 23; 5:25, 28; 7:30; 8:20; 12:23, 27; 13:1; 16:2, 4, 21, 25, 32; 17:1).
